Author’s note: This is a persuasive essay about why reading the book instead of the movie is better. Also, this describes why you get more information from the book instead of the movie.

Where will you get more information from, the movie or the book? You should definitely read the book. The book h as cliffhangers, doesn’t skip any parts, and has important information about the characters. There are many reasons on why people should read the book instead of watching the movie.

Even though a movie might seem interesting, most of the time the movie does skip parts. Eighty five percent of the time movies skip the middle of the book. Some of the movies are Harry Potter and the Sorcerers’ Stone, I am Number Four, and Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. When you don’t get the information of the movie because the movie skips parts, you get confused all the time. When I was reading the Harry Potter series, one of the character’s parents die in the book but in the movies, since the movie skips parts, it doesn’t say anything about the character’s parents. That is one of the reasons on why you should read the book instead of the movie.

People get very confused about the movie when the movie skips parts, but even worse is that the movie doesn’t have any cliffhangers! The movie can get really boring. Like for the Golden Compass, since the movie didn’t have any cliffhangers almost everyone thought the movie was boring. Once you think the movie is boring, you think the book would be boring so you don’t bother to read it. That is really a shame because the Golden Compass is really good and same with the series.

Out of all those reasons on why people shouldn’t watch the movie, you can’t get all the important information about the characters. A really good example is in Alex Rider. In the books, Alex is able to escape from everything, and he is funny and respectful. In the movie he is mean and boring. Another great example is from the Harry Potter. In the book it says a lot about one of the main character’s past, but in the movie they only show a glimpse of that main character’s past. That’s also another reason on why you should read the book.

It is very clear that you should read a book instead of watching a movie. My sister always asked me questions during movies because she didn’t read the books before. Now she is reading the books and she enjoys the movies much better. Reading a book is just makes everything less confusing.
