Deep Water

Deep Water
Have you ever felt safe when you are alone in a pool all by yourself? In the story Deep Water, by William O. Douglass, William, the main character, has been changed by an eighteen year old man. All because of him, William was always afraid to go in the water. William was changed so much he had to get over his fear but his incident is terrifying.

Even though William got terrified, he was doing well at swimming in the begging of the story. William was a perfect swimmer. He was taking swimming lessons every day, he was getting use to the pool, and he was improving on his back strokes. Finally William was getting calmer about swimming and he thought about swimming in the Yakima River. The only bad thing was that he didn’t know what was going to change his life.

So his swimming was improving and he was feeling confident about it, unfortunately someone made him feel horrified. Thinking that he was going to die, William was drowning because an eighteen year-old man threw him in to the pool. Later on he was scared so bad he never wanted to go back in the pool again when he was saved.

Although William was in a tragic moment, he wanted to overcome his fear and took swimming lessons again. Day by Day he was getting less scared and calmer again. When the instructor told him he was done, he didn’t feel like he was finished. A second time he felt confident to swim in a lake. He was super excited when he finally achieved his goal of swimming in Went Worth.

You can see on how William overcame his fear in swimming. His life changed from an eighteen year-old, but William decided to face his fear. He would have to become a very strong person to overcome that type of fear. I know I wouldn’t be able to do that. William’s life got changed a lot and his drowning incident was really scary.
