Have you ever stolen something and has it affected you? In this novel, The Cobra King of Kathmandu by P.B. Kerr, the author was trying to say that stealing is bad. Also you end up in bad situations, or you just feel guilty that you stole something. Once people find out that you did the crime, they get mad at you or depressed. Stealing is horrible and whoever does steal ends up in a complicated situation.
While the author is trying to say that stealing is awful, you can end up in bad situations. I already mentioned that people will get sad or mad, but that is not always the case. People might attack you, vandalize your personal belongings, or maybe even steal from you. Then they would possibly blackmail you once they stole from you. Worst case scenario, is that you could get killed by somebody. It is obvious that the author is saying that stealing is terrible and you end up in bad situations.
While the moral of the story is that stealing is cruel, the author also gave us clues to find the moral lesson. On page 37 after one of the characters stole something said that ended up to be a bad situation was, “All over the world there are people who would kill to get one of these drawings.” So there was a good clue on why the author was trying to say that stealing is poor decision to make. Also on page 335 another character said, “Every crime has its punishment.” With so many clues that the author gave, it is clear that he was trying to say that stealing is terrible idea.
As you can see, the author wants to tell us that stealing is bad. I believe that the author also made other morals about protecting yourself too. It would be so ridiculous to not find the moral because there are so many clues. That is what the moral of the story was.
