The Same Themes in Two Different Books

Author’s note: This is about the themes in the book The Warrior Heir, by Susanne Collins, and it is comparing the themes with a different book. That book is Eragon, by Christopher Paolini.

The book “The Warrior Heir” has multiple themes. One of the obvious themes is trust. Even some people you think that are your friends could not be. Another great theme is to use the help you can get. If somebody offers you something, you should use it. Finally the last theme is never defying stereotyping. The book “Eragon” has a same theme that is trust. Both of these books have the same theme and they both have a thing to learn from.

To start my journey, the obvious theme is trust. In the book “The Warrior Heir”, the main character, Jack, trusted his teacher to get him to safety. The only problem was that Jack’s teacher, Mr. Hastings, did exactly what Jack’s enemies wanted him to do. So Jack learned only to trust his really close friends. Mr. Hastings even told him that he was going to do what Jack’s enemies wanted him to do on page 303. Trust is huge in this book.

On the other hand, you always use the help you can get. When Jack was trying to settle his problem with his enemy alone, he got in a huge problem. Then eventually his friends helped him and they defeated Jack’s enemy. Jack even said himself that he doesn’t need his friends help on page 84. That is a lesson to learn because you always should use the help you should get. The only problem though to that is to trust your friends.

Finally, the themes that both books have are defying stereotyping. When Jack was practicing for his game, he underestimated his partner and she turned out to be really good. He even told her that she was bad on page 106. Also, the main character in “Eragon”, Eragon, underestimated Brom because he thought that Brom was just an old man. It turned out though that Brom was awesome at fighting. This theme could teach you that you should never underestimate people.

It is obvious that both of these books have amazing themes. The reason you can learn from these themes is because they are all life lessons. Trust is extremely important because people can use it as a double edge sword. The reason I say that is because you can use trust as a weapon or as a tool. That is why you should only trust you really close friends or your family members. The themes are life lessons that will come in handy to anybody.
