The Powerful Symbols

            Author's note: This is proving that this story has Death in it. Also this piece tells you that the color black means death.

            In the story “The Lottery”, by Shirley Jackson, there are a lot of different symbols. One of the symbols represents death and the other on represents tradition. The last one is friendship. All of the symbols have one meaning which is death.

            The symbol that represents death is the black dot. It is the black dot because the color black normally represents death. Like how Darth Vader is death in Star Wars. That is what the first symbol is. The other two symbols don’t exactly mean death. The symbol that represents tradition is the lottery. This somewhat means death because of the reason why some people have stopped it. If a tradition was good, people wouldn’t want to stop doing it. The other symbol is the giant rock. This means friendship because the friend in the story just wanted the poor woman to get out of her misery.

            In the end, it is clear that all of these symbols mean death. The cool thing to realize that these symbols mean death is because they all have the color black. The color that means white is life. All the symbols mean death.
